CE Undergraduate Research Assistantships
Deadline: April 15, November 15. This initiative funds undergraduate research experiences in civil engineering laboratories. The assistantship provides up to $2,000 of support for a 10 hours/week semester-long appointment as an undergraduate research assistant (URA) in a CE research lab. URAs can reapply for a second semester of support from this initiative. Up to three URA positions will be available each semester. Students who are traditionally under-represented in engineering (women and under-represented minorities) are strongly encouraged to apply. Kansas Water Environment Association Scholarship
Deadline: February 22. The Kansas Water Environment Association is now in their twelfth year of offering scholarships to both technical school and university students. Three University scholarships ($1200, $750, and $750) are available and a fourth may also be awarded. The applications are due by February 18, 2012. The University Scholarships will be awarded in April 2012 at an awards reception and will be formally announced at the KWEA conference luncheon on August 29, 2012. Deadline: May 1. The Kansas Section of the American Public Works Association sponsors the Steve Webb Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at KSU in a curriculum which could possibly lead to a career in Public Works. Preference will be given to civil engineering students. Applicant must be in good academic standing with respect to the requirements established by the College of Engineering. Applicant must be classified as a junior or senior for the year in which they receive the scholarship and must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester. KS American Water Works Association Scholarship
Deadline: July 27. KsAWWA is sponsoring the 'Terry L. McKanna Scholarship' in the amount of $1,000 for a student interested in pursuing a career in the waterworks industry. DAAD Scholarship or Fellowship
DAAD stands for Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst aka German Academic Exchange Service. Their goal is to promote study and research in Germany and to build international academic ties thereby. Homeland Security Scholarship
To ensure a diverse and talented supply of individuals that can help the Department of Homeland Security meet its varied mission, particularly in areas related to science and technology. $9,000 plus tuition/fees each year. SMART Defense Scholarship
SMART stands for Science and Mathematics Research for Transformation. The purpose of the award is to recruit students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to work for the Department of Defense as a civilian research scientist or engineer.
