THE PROGRAM The Departments of Biological & Agricultural Engineering (BAE), Civil Engineering (CE) and Chemical Engineering (CHE) at Kansas State University offer concentrations in environmental engineering. Graduate students enrolled in environmental engineering programs have access to faculty, coursework, and research facilities in these departments and outside the College of Engineering in the departments of Agronomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, and Geology. DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES The
30-credit hour MS programs focus on developing a thorough understanding
of various topics necessary in the professional practice of
environmental and water resources engineering.
The MS programs may include 6-credit hours of research towards a
thesis, or a 3-credit hour project. The
60-credit hour Ph.D. program is designed to build upon the broad
understanding of environmental engineering topics obtained during the MS
program.
Individual doctoral programs then focus on building a
comprehensive understanding of special topics within the fields of
environmental, ecological and water resources engineering. The average
duration of a doctoral program is four years. Students enrolled in the
Ph.D. program have to pass a preliminary examination within two years of
commencement of their program. To successfully complete the program,
Ph.D. candidates have to defend a dissertation. Graduate certificate programs are also offered in Air Quality and Geoenvironmental Engineering. |
