Educational Information




Educational Background:

I was born in Ravar, a small town on northern part of the Kerman Province in Iran. I finished my high school in Kerman, ranking first in Kerman Province and Second in Iran (received Alborz Award).

Higher Education:

I entered Shiraz University (Pahlavi at the time) to study Civil Engineering and later moved to University of Tehran. I ranked 5 in the National University Entrance Exam (second in Math allover the nation), and was awarded by the Ministry of Education at the time.

I earned my BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering from University of Tehran.

Graduate Studies at the University of Southern California (USC):

I moved to US to continue my studies towards PhD. I earned MS in Electrical Engineering, MS in Structural Engineering and PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Southern California.

While at USC, I was awarded several times on different occasions, such as the best Teaching Assistant Award, Hami Award of Excellence in Civil Engineering Education, Outstanding Achievement in Civil Engineering Education, etc., before my graduation.

Professional Engineering Experience:

I was a professional engineer for close to 5 years (Iran) before moving to California. I am a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in the State of California. After my PhD, I worked close to a year for Caltrans, on the Seismic Replacement of the Bay Bridge.

Faculty Position at KSU:

I started my faculty position at KSU in summer 2002. I teach structural courses and my research is related to this field, combined with interdisciplinary activities, because of my background in electrical engineering.
